Rosemary Labella Lucca
Nata negli Stati Uniti, già da giovanissima ha scelto l’Italia come dimora per le sue “affinità elettive” con questo paese.
Dopo una lunga carriera nella moda, sposta il suo occhio artistico al mondo poetico delle piante e le espressioni della Natura che la circondano, approfondendo la disciplina della pittura botanica attraverso corsi con qualificati pittori italiani. Per un lungo periodo si è dedicata soprattutto al mondo delle rose antiche, mentre negli ultimi anni il suo lavoro si è concentrato in modo significativo verso le piante alimurgiche italiane (foraged plants).
Dal 2016 è membro attivo della ASBA (American Society of Botanical Artists) e attualmente insegna acquerello floreale alla UNI3 di Torgiano (PG).
Sue opere si trovano al Museo delle Rose di Pechino e in svariate collezioni private europee e americane.
Vive e lavora in Umbria col marito musicista, poeta e umorista con cui ha collaborato, come illustratrice, per diverse pubblicazioni.
Born in the United States, as a young traveler she chose Italy as her permanent residence because of the “elective affinities” which tied her to this country.
Following an international career in fashion, her artistic eye shifted its interest to the poetic world of plants and the expressions of Nature which surround them, deepening her studies of Botanical Art through courses with qualified Italian artists. For many years she dedicated her art primarily to portraits of old roses, while lately she has moved her main interest towards the wild foraged plants of Italy.
She is an active member of the ASBA (American Society of Botanical Artists) since 2016 and presently teaches Floral Watercolour classes at the UNI3 of Torgiano (PG).
Her works can be found in the Rose Museum of Beijing, China, and several private European and American collections.
She presently lives and works in the Italian region of Umbria with her husband, musician, poet and humorist, with whom she has collaborated as the illustrator for several publications.
